HEY TOMORROW & SAM PLUNKETT 2023 PINOT NOIR 2L
The fruit for Sam's Pinot Noir was grown on the Murrindindi Valley Vineyard looking on to the beautiful Cathedral Ranges in the Upper Goulburn wine region. The vineyard was established by the Cuthbertson family, with the MV6 clone of Pinot Noir planted in 1998 and the following year 115 was planted.
2023 was a low yielding vintage here, with only around half the normal volume of grapes being harvested on 27th March. The pinot noir was placed in an open fermenter, where it soaked for a few days, before a wild ferment began. After fermentation, the wine was pressed, settled and moved to oak barrel where it remained for 6 months.
The wine shows delicate red fruit aromas; strawberry, cherry and mulberry, joined by mandarin zest. The palate is earthy and herbal, with a peppered finish.
